A man was seriously wounded in a shooting early Monday in the South Shore neighborhood.

The shooting happened in the 2900 block of East 78th Place at 2:48 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The 24-year-old was shot in both legs and his abdomen and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Gaines said.

Police said the man is not cooperating with investigators.

The shooting happened about three blocks from where two men were shot — one fatally —about an hour and a half earlier.

Both men were shot in the 7800 block of South South Shore Drive about 1:10 a.m., police said.

A 28-year-old was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Another man, 29, was shot in the chest and leg and taken in critical condition to Northwestern.

Police could not immediately say if the two shootings are related.
