A teenage boy was shot early Monday in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The 14-year-old boy was shot in the hand about 12:35 a.m. in the 1700 block of West 21st Place, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, citing preliminary information.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Greer said.
