A 19-year-old man followed a woman into her Lake View apartment building Monday night, pushed her down and stole her purse, police said.

Jaleel Johnson was ordered held on a $250,000 bond for the felony robbery charge, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County sheriff’s office.

About 10 p.m., Johnson followed a 21-year-old woman into the vestibule of her apartment building in the 3100 block of North Southport, police said.

He grabbed her, pushed her to the ground and took her purse before running off, police said. Three men witnessed the robbery and chased Johnson until they caught him a short distance away.

The victim identified Johnson as the robber, police said. She declined medical attention, and her purse was recovered.

Johnson, of the 6900 block of South Artesian,is next scheduled to appear in court May 26, authorities said.
