A man who allegedly shot a woman to death before turning the gun on himself earlier this month in the South Side Chatham neighborhood has been identified.
A family member found 27-year-old Erica D. Blackman and 42-year-old Michael Leonard dead with gunshot wounds about 12:45 a.m. May 1in the 8000 block of South Princeton, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy found that Blackman, who lived in the same block, died from a shotgun wound to the left arm, according to the medical examiner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Leonard, who lived at the same address, died of an intra-oral gunshot wound and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Area South detectives are investigating the incident as a domestic-related murder-suicide.
