A man was shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side Wednesday evening.

About 5:45 p.m., the 21-year-old was in the 500 block of East 71st Street when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot, police said. The man saw a male in a black hooded sweat shirt running from the scene.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to his left arm, police said. His condition had stabilized.
