15-year-old boy shot in Elgin

A 15-year-old boy was shot Wednesday night in northwest suburban Elgin.

At 9:26 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Keep Avenue for a report of shots fired, according to a statement from Elgin police.

A short time later, a 15-year-old boy was found in a different location suffering gunshot wounds that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. He was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

The Gang Crimes Unit responded to the scene and is conducting the investigation, police said.
