Two shot in Bridgeport

Two men were shot in the Bridgeport neighborhood late Thursday.

The two, ages 22 and 19, were found shot in an alley in the 1300 block of West 31st Street about 11:30 p.m., police said.

Both men were taken to Stroger Hospital. The 22-year-old was shot in the head and is listed in critical condition, police said. The other man was shot in the abdomen. His condition had stabilized.

The shooting was narcotics-related, according to a police source.

A woman who has lived on the block for several years and wished to remain anonymous said the six rapid-fire gunshots she heard are not normal for the area.

“I have grandchildren and we sit out here every night in the summer and we’ve never seen anything like this,” she said.
