Former DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom is among four new members appointed Friday by Gov. Bruce Rauner to the Illinois State Tollway Authority.
The governor also appointed Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson, Lake County Board member Nick Sauer and Joseph Gomez, senior vice president of Byline Bank, to four-year terms on the board.
They will replace Terrence D’Arcy, Mark Peterson, Jeffrey Redick and Tom Weisner, whose terms expired earlier this month.
Schillerstrom, who made an unsuccessful bid for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2010, served three terms on the DuPage County Board and served in the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office. He lives in Naperville and is now a partner at Ice Miller’s Public Affairs Group.
Johnson has been mayor of Elk Grove Village since 1997 after first serving as a trustee. He is also CEO of the Johnson Insurance Agency.
Sauer, who is also a member of the Lake County Forest Preserve District, previously served on the Barrington Community Unit School District 220 Board of Education. The Lake Barrington resident is a partner and sales representative at Scarsdale Marketing/Sauer Kitchen Solutions.
Gomez, of Northfield, previously worked for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation’s Bureau of Banking, and on the Illinois Development Finance Authority under Govs. James Thompson and Jim Edgar. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce as a financial consultant.
Another board member whose term had expired, David Gonzalez, will be reappointed, according to a spokeswoman for the governor.
Illinois State Tollway Authority members are paid $31,426 a year.
