Man shot in Lawndale

A man was shot Friday afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The 21-year-old got into a fight about 2:45 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Roosevelt, police said.

He ran to a vehicle and attempted to drive off when someone fired shots at the vehicle, striking him in the hip, police said.

He took himself to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
