A 20-year-old man was robbed and shot early Saturday in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

He was walking with another person about 1:15 a.m. in the 0-100 block of East Garfield when two men walked up and demanded his coat and cell phone, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

One of the robbers then shot him in the leg. He was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
