SHARE Mechanical problem halts service for UP-NW train

A mechanical problem on an outbound Union Pacific/Northwest Metra train halted its service two stops from its destination Sunday afternoon.

About 15 people were aboard train no. 707 when a mechanical problem stopped it near the Cary station at 1:45 p.m., spokesman Michael Gillis said. The train, which left Chicago at 12:30 p.m., was scheduled to arrive in Crystal Lake ten minutes later.

Train no. 713, which left Chicago at 2:30 p.m. and is heading to Harvard, will pick up the other train’s passengers.
