A 17-year-old was killed in an Austin neighborhood shooting Monday night, police said.

About 7:50 p.m., the teen was shot in the back and leg in the 4900 block of West Erie, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police previously said the teen was an 18-year-old man.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not confirm the death Monday night.
