Bulls radio play-by-play man Chuck Swirsky hasn’t called a baseball game since 1979, but he’s already having fun filling in for Ken Harrelson.

“Hawk” Harrelson is sitting out the 11-game roadtrip to have a minor surgical procedure, and the Sox tabbed Swirsky to take his place while he’s away.

“I’ve enjoyed it,” Swirsky said in an interview with Sportsnet. “I have a lot of support from Steve Stone, of course, Jon Walgren our director, Jim Angio our producer. They are spoon-feeding me. And the coaching staff has been great. … It’s been a lot of fun, now the ball club needs to hit and they need to pitch. Other than that life is good.”

You can watch Swirsky talk about his temporary gig with the White Sox and his former job as the Toronto Raptors play-by-play man in the full Sportsnet interview:

Several highlights from Monday’s game featuring Swirsky’s calls are available through MLB.com here.
