A man was shot Tuesday night during an attempted robbery in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The man, 27, was sitting in a car with a female about 10:40 p.m. in the alley in the 7400 block of West Irving Park Road when two males walked up and announced a robbery, police said.

Then one of the males fired a shot, striking the man in the right leg, police said. The pair then ran off, but nothing was stolen.

The man was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where his condition was stabilized, police said. The female was not injured.
