Police: Man shot to death in Uptown

A man was shot to death early Friday in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side, police said.

The 20-year-old was standing in the 4800 block of North Kenmore at 1:36 a.m. when someone got out of a vehicle and fired shots at him, striking him twice in the back, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

A source said the shooting was gang-related.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
