A man has been charged with a DUI in an early Sunday crash that left him seriously hurt on Interstate 80 in the south suburbs.

About 3:55 a.m., 23-year-old Ivan Villegas was in a vehicle speeding on eastbound I-80 when it left the road near Cicero Avenue, fell in a ditch and hit a tree, Illinois State Police said.

Villegas was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he remained in “real serious condition” Sunday afternoon, police said. No one else was in his vehicle, and no other injuries were reported.

Villegas was charged with aggravated DUI.
