A 36-year-old man was shot and critically wounded Sunday evening in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

He was on a sidewalk about 7:40 p.m. in the 700 block of North Christiana when he “heard shots and felt pain,” police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

He was shot in the left armpit and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Alfaro said.

The attack happened during a 30-minute spate of gunfire on the West Side that left one man dead and another critically injured.
