Woman questioned about fatal stabbing has been released

A woman being questioned by police about a fatal stabbing Tuesday on the Far South Side has been released without charges.

A man was stabbed to death during a domestic fight in the South Deering neighborhood, police said at the time. The 26-year-old was in a fight with his girlfriend at 1:19 a.m. when she stabbed him in the chest in the 10700 block of South Bensley, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the man’s death, but has not yet released his name.

The man’s girlfriend was initially taken into custody for questioning, but police said Wednesday afternoon that she had been released without charges.
