A woman was sexually assaulted early Monday in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The assault occurred about 1 a.m. in an apartment in the 500 block of West Arlington Place, according to police and a community alert from 43rd Ward Ald. Michele Smith’s office. The victim, a 24-year-old woman, had met the male attacker at a nearby bar earlier.

After the attack, the woman ran out of the apartment yelling for help, and neighbors were able to assist her and call police, according to the alert.

The woman suffered a laceration to her left leg during the attack and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

No one was in custody for the attack Wednesday morning as Area North detectives continued to investigate.
