Wauconda has won a Class 3A sectional softball title in each of the last two seasons, and a third straight championship is a realistic possibility with hard-throwing Kayla Wedl dealing from the circle.

But no matter how perfectly the junior right-hander pitches and how well her teammates defend and hit, there’s still one thing missing — so far — from the Bulldog side of the field.
