A robber cut a store clerk’s hand during a hold-up in the Wicker Park neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The male suspect went into the store in the 1600 block of North Damen about 1 p.m., under the false pretense of buying something, police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon said.

When the 32-year-old woman in the store opened a cash drawer, he took out a knife and demanded money, Lemmon said.

He cut the woman on her hand and ran off with an unknown amount of cash, police said. He was not in custody Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in good condition, Lemmon said.
