Melky Cabrera jukes Miguel Cabrera, slides safely into first base

SHARE Melky Cabrera jukes Miguel Cabrera, slides safely into first base

Melky Cabrera and Miguel Cabrera share a last name and a slightly rounded figure.

So it was amusing to see Melky Cabrera juke his way around Miggy in the fourth inning of Thursday’s White Sox-Tigers game at U.S. Cellular Field.

Melky Cabrera hit a ground ball to second baseman Ian Kinsler, who made a bad throw to first. Miguel Cabrera came off the bag to make the catch, then had to try and awkwardly tag Melky on the baseline.

Melky Cabrera juked around him, slid into first base and was called safe by first base umpire Paul Schrieber. The ruling on the field was an error by Kinsler.

Watch:

Melky Cabrera later scored on an Avisail Garcia base hit, and the White Sox would load the bases with no outs. But Alexei Ramirez grounded into a double play, and Gordon Beckham grounded out to end the inning with just the one run.
