A 17-year-old boy was seriously injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The teen was standing outside in the 6700 block of South Normal a few minutes after noon when two males approached and fired a shot in his direction, police said.

He was shot in the back of the neck and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

A police source said the teen is a documented gang member.
