One person was hospitalized early Friday after a fire in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

About 2:40 a.m., a fire broke out in a four-story building in the 6300 block of West Montrose, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The person — whose age and gender were not known — was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center to be treated for minor smoke inhalation, according to fire media.

The fire was out about 3:30 a.m. and no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was also not known Friday morning, fire media said.
