A man died Saturday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed into a truck in northwest Indiana.

Ismael Gonzalez, 27, was riding southbound on Cleveland Street near 47th Avenue in Gary, Ind., when a Ford F150 pickup traveling northbound turned west into a driveway and into the bike’s path, authorities said.

Gonzalez, of the 5300 block of Grant Street in Merrillville, was taken to Methodists Hospital Northlake in Gary, where he was pronounced dead at 2:19 p.m., according to the Lake County coroner’s office. He died of multiple blunt-force injuries he suffered in the crash.

The driver of the pickup, 43-year-old Oscarito Moreno of Calumet Township, was taken to Methodist Hospitals Southlake in Merrillville, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office.

It was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, the sheriff’s office said. The crash remains under investigation.
