White Sox starting pitcher Hector Noesi exited the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Reds after taking a line drive off his right hip in the second inning.

Billy Hamilton lined a comebacker off Noesi that rolled toward Alexei Ramirez for an infield single. After meeting with team trainers on the mound, Noesi took a few practice pitches before giving way to reliever Scott Carroll.

The injury was officially ruled a lower back contusion, and Noesi is considered day-to-day.

Noesi hadn’t been sharp in the game to that point. He needed 46 pitches to record five outs and left the bases loaded. He walked two batters and struck out three.
