A man was critically wounded in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting Monday afternoon on the West Side.

Witnesses told police they heard shots about 2 p.m. in the 100 block of North Karlov and when they looked outside the 28-year-old man was found lying on the ground, police said.

He was shot in the head and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
