2 dead, 7 wounded in shootings across the city Wednesday

Two people were killed — one a 17-year-old boy — and at least seven others were injured in nine shootings across Chicago Wednesday.

The most recent homicide occurred about 8:35 p.m. in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the South Side.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest in the 900 block of West 32^nd Place, police said. Witnesses at the scene said he was shot while retrieving his stolen bicycle.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death but did not release the teen’s name Wednesday night.

A 19-year-old man was discovered shot to death early Wednesday near his home in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood.

Devonte Terry was shot in the back and discovered unresponsive in the 5600 block of South Artesian at 12:44 a.m., authorities said.

Terry, who lived in the same block, was dead at the scene, authorities said.

The most recent shooting happened about 8:40 p.m. in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side.

A 32-year-old man was found on the sidewalk in the 9400 block of South Princeton with several gunshot wounds to his abdomen, police said. He was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

About 6 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the back in the 1200 block of West 71^st Place in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

A man was shot a few minutes before 1 p.m. in the Southwest Side Marquette Park neighborhood.

A 22-year-old man was discovered unresponsive in the 3000 block of West 63^rd Street at 12:54 p.m., police said. He was listed in critical condition.

About 4:45 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the 100 block of South Springfield in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.

He was standing on the sidewalk when a gunman walked up and opened fire. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

About 2:10 a.m., a man was shot in the Marquette Park neighborhood.

The 21-year-old was shot in the leg in the 7100 block of South Western Boulevard and taken in good condition to Christ Medical Center, police said.

A few minutes earlier, a man was hurt in a drive-by shooting on Lake Shore Drive in the Gold Coast neighborhood.

The 31-year-old man was driving southbound in the 1000 block of North Lake Shore Drive when a gray Ford Mustang drove past and someone inside opened fire about 1:35 a.m., police said.

He suffered a graze wound and refused medical treatment.

About half an hour earlier, a woman was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 24-year-old was outside in the 12300 block of South Normal about 1 a.m. when she heard shots and realized she’d been hit, police said.

She was shot in both legs and taken to Christ Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition.
