A bicyclist who was struck and killed last week in a hit-and-run crash in northwest Indiana has been identified.

Alexander Buchanan was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle in the 2100 block of Delaware Street in Gary, Ind., about 9 p.m. June 3 according to Gary police Sgt. Thomas Decanter and the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office.

Buchanan, 60, of Gary, Ind., was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

Decanter said witnesses described the vehicle as a newer model Chevrolet, but additional details were not available. No one was in custody as of Tuesday morning.
