Bears’ top pick learning all about Jay Cutler

Part of Kevin White’s practice experience during team activities this spring has been learning what Jay Cutler wants out of the Bears’ first-round NFL draft pick.

The verdict? Cutler “wants to have everything down early and quick,” the No. 7 overall pick said Wednesday, six days before the start of mandatory minicamp at Halas Hall.

Cutler also has expectations for White — who, though he might not be there yet, figures to start alongside Pro Bowler Alshon Jeffery and new acquisition Eddie Royal, the former Charger.

“He wants everything done on time,” the West Virginia alum said of Cutler. “But he’s willing to help all his receivers, too.”

That likely includes tight end Martellus Bennett, if he decides to return for the minicamp after sitting home while wanting a new contract.

The Bears need all the help they can; they finished 15th in the NFL in passing offense last season, gaining 3,792 yards through the air.
