In honor of National HIV Testing Day on June 27, Chicago-area Walgreens will be offering free HIV testing.

The major drugstore chain is teaming up with AIDS educators Greater Than AIDS to offer the testing, which will be administered by trained counselors.

The rapid testing will produce a result as fast as one minute and no longer than 20, according to Greater Than AIDS. Test kits were donated by Alere North America, BioLytical Laboratories and OraSure Technologies.

The CDC estimates that by the end of 2011, about 1.2 million people in the United States were living with HIV, and about 14% do not know they are infected.

The testing will be offered:

  • JUNE 25 from3pm to 7pm
  • JUNE 26 from3pm to 7pm
  • JUNE 27 from 10am to 2pm
