Police in south suburban Lansing are asking the public’s help in solving a string of recent home burglaries.

The most recent burglaries occurred Monday in the 17600 block of State Line Road and the 17800 block of School Street, according to a community alert from Lansing police. The majority of the break-ins took place during the workday when no one was home.

Residents have reported returning home to find that their homes were entered through rear doors or partially opened windows, police said. The burglars have been primarily taking electronics and jewelry from the homes.

Police said the burglaries might involve multiple suspects. One person acts as a lookout and knocks on the door to a home to determine if anyone is home. If the house is empty, they alert an accomplice who forces entry into a part of the home that is not easily visible to witnesses, police said.

Witnesses have described two suspects seen near the homes that were burglarized Monday, police said. The first is described as an 18- to 20-year-old black man between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall with a thin build and a short Afro. He was wearing a dark gray hoodie and dark pants.

The second suspect is described as a 5-foot-7, 200-pound black female with long hair, police said. She was wearing a pink shirt and dark-colored pants.

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to contact police at (708) 895-7150.
