A man was in critical condition after being shot in the head Thursday afternoon in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The 26-year-old was shot about 3:50 p.m. while he walking down the street in the 3500 block of South Western Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

A male suspect got out of a black car and fired shots, striking the man in the head and neck, Sedevic said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, she said. The car then drove off east on 35th Street.
