Police are warning residents about four recent home burglaries in the Jefferson Park and Portage Park neighborhoods on the Northwest Side.

In each case, a suspect or suspects have broken into homes and apartments to take electronics, jewelry, cash and other items, Area North detectives said in an alert. The burglaries happened:

—11-11:15 p.m. May 22 in the 5500 block of West Edmunds;

—between 3-6 p.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of West Sunnyside;

—between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4900 block of West Sunnyside; and

—between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 4900 block of West Sunnyside.

Residents should make sure their doors and windows are locked, and should pay attention to anyone loitering in the area, police said.
