On this day 18 years ago, Michael Jordan and the Bulls defeated reigning MVP Karl Malone and the Utah Jazz in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

This is known as Jordan’s “flu game,” where he scored 38 points while suffering from flu-like symptoms.

The Bulls went on to the win the 1997 NBA Finals in six games.
