Teen charged with critically wounding man in Rogers Park shooting

A teenage boy has been charged with critically wounding a man in a shooting last week in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

Germel Dossie, 17, is charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Dossie, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, walked up to a 22-year-old man who was standing in the 7600 block of North Ashland about 1:10 p.m. on June 1, and fired several shots, police said.

The shooter then jumped into a red vehicle, which sped away.

The victim was shot multiple times in the neck and back, and was taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was in critical condition, police said. A police source said he is a documented gang member.

Dossie is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
