SHARE Loss of power temporarily reroutes CTA Brown, Purple lines

Loop-bound Purple Line Express and Brown Line trains are operating with delays after a loss of power occurred at the CTA’s Merchandise Mart station Friday morning.

About 7:40 a.m., the CTA said trains were resuming their normal service.

Less than an hour earlier, Brown Line trains were ordered to operate along the Red Line tracks between the North/Clybourn and Roosevelt stations, andPurple Line trains were initially not traveling south of Howard.

Both train lines have since resumed operating to the Loop, the CTA said.
