The Indiana Toll Road has reopened after a three-car crash near Gary left an Ohio man dead Friday afternoon.

The westbound lanes were closed for hours at mile marker 18.3 following the three-car crash that happened about 2:30 p.m., according to Indiana State Police.

Lucas Del Valle, 51, of the 100 block of Graybark Lane in Amherst, Ohio, was killed in the crash, according to the Lake County coroner’s office. His cause of death was blunt force trauma from the accident.

A police vehicle was involved in the crash, and an Indiana State Trooper suffered minor injuries, police said. He was treated at a hospital and later released.

As of about 8 p.m., all lanes of the Toll Road have reopened, police said.
