Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed in the West Side Austin neighborhood Friday morning.

Benson Collins, 55, was walking in the 1000 block of North Leamington about 11 a.m. when someone in a black vehicle drove by and fired shots and struck him in the chest and arm, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Collins, of the 4800 block of West Cortland, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died, the medical examiner’s office said.

He was not the intended target, and the shooting appears to be drug-related, a police source said.
