A teenage boy was shot in the South Side Burnside neighborhood early Saturday.

The 17-year-old was walking in the 8800 block of South Cottage Grove about 3:45 a.m. when someone approached him from behind and fired, striking him in the leg, police said.

The teen then ran to the 700 block of East 88th Place, where he collapsed, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
