Man shot in Pilsen

A man was shot Saturday evening in the Pilsen neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 6:20 p.m., the 18-year-old was standing outside in the 1900 block of South Leavitt when a male exited a white SUV nearby and fired shots in his direction, police said. The shooter then jumped back into the SUV, which sped away.

The man was shot in the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
