Bond was set at $1 million for a man charged with shooting a Midlothian man to death during a fight inside an apartment complex early Friday near O’Hare International Airport on the Northwest Side.
Devonte Dotson, 21, faces one count of first-degree murder for the 12:45 a.m. shooting in the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr, according to Chicago Police.
Authorities allege Dotson shot 23-year-old Dennis Hoosier repeatedly during a fight inside Dotson’s apartment.
Hoosier, who lived in the 14700 block of Kilpatrick Avenue in Midlothian, was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The apartment complex is one of many surrounded by hotels, corporate offices and restaurants. An officer at the scene said the area is usually very quiet.
“We don’t get called up here often,” he said. “Nothing happens here.”
A judge on Saturday ordered Dotson held on a $1 million bond, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is next scheduled to appear in court Monday.
