A man was shot in a vehicle early Monday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened in the 2500 block of West Monroe about 12:20 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The 18-year-old man was sitting passenger in a vehicle when someone in a passing light-colored vehicle fired shots, striking him in the back, Greer said. He was then driven to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
