There was strong support Monday for the approach John Stamos took following his DUI arrest — graciously expressing gratitude to the cops who arrested him and the hospital workers who helped him. “It’s always good to be humble and apologetic when you’re in situations like this,” said a veteran Hollywood insider, who is knowledgable about damage-control public relations.

“John did the right thing with that tweet.”

The source was referring to Stamos’ Twitter comment, posted Saturday in which he wrote:

The actor was expressing thanks to both the Beverly Hills Police Department (who took him to the hospital, after charging him with the DUI) and the medical professionals at Cedars Sinai, the famous Los Angeles medical center.

According to a couple of Stamos associates, it does not appear he has a major problem with alcohol, but it’s unclear if the actor will seek further treatment following his arrest and initial treatment.

He is scheduled to appear in court for this case on Sept. 11. Stamos, along with Candace Cameron Bure, Bob Saget and other “Full House” cast members, is slated to reprise his role in the upcoming “Fuller House” series on Netflix.
