After the Tennessee Smokies won 5-1 on Monday, Smokies first baseman Daniel Vogelbach spoiled the news of Cubs prospect Kyle Schwarber being promoted to Chicago.
The Cubs will call up Schwarber, who’s playing catcher and designated hitter while in Double-A, on Tuesday and will play through the week before going back down to Triple-A.
Schwarber was hitting .318 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI this season in Tennessee.
The Cubs play at the Minnesota Twins this weekend where they can use Schwarber as a designated hitter. No indication if Schwarber will get the start in any games.
