I cross paths with Jim Lukancic occasionally when fishing, but it is his photography that really connects with me.

A week or so ago, he got a new camera and it has brought forth an outpouring of good stuff. A couple really caught my eye, including this great blue heron trying to steal a fish from a cormorant.

Wild of the Week, a celebration of wildlife around Chicago outdoors, runs on the Sun-Times outdoors page on Sundays when apt.

Chicago artist Jason Messinger created the murals in 2018 during a Blue Line station renovation and says his aim was for “people to look at this for 30 seconds and transport them on a mini-vacation of the mind. Each mural is an abstract idea of a vacation destination.”
