A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

The 2007 Chevrolet HHR struck the pedestrian on Route 31 about 300 feet north of Route 176 at 10:27 a.m., according to a statement from Crystal Lake police.

The male was taken to Centegra McHenry Medical Center in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m., according to the McHenry County coroner’s office. His name was not released Tuesday afternoon pending notification of relatives.

The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old McHenry man, has not been cited, police said.

Crystal Lake police are investigating.
