Cubs catching prospect Kyle Schwarber will wear No. 12 during his 6-game promotion in the MLB.

Schwarber hit .320 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI in 58 Double-A games this season.

As expected, Schwarber will not be in the starting lineup on Tuesday while the Cubs play the Cleveland Indians. Cubs president Theo Epstein said Schwarber will most likely see playing time as the designated hitter when they play the Minnesota Twins this weekend.

The last notable Cubs player to wear No. 12 was former outfielder Alfonso Soriano.
