An 80-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV Tuesday morning in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

Seymour Fishman, 80, was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet HHR on Route 31 about 300 feet north of Route 176 at 10:27 a.m., according to Crystal Lake police and the McHenry County coroner’s office.

The Wheeling resident was taken to Centegra McHenry Medical Center in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead at 11:11 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.

An autopsy found that he died of blunt force injuries to his head and chest.

The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old McHenry man, was not cited in connection with the crash.

Crystal Lake police are investigating.
