Kyle Fuller among Bears punt return options

John Fox has seen improvement from second-year cornerback Kyle Fuller, one of two defensive players he dubbed building blocks shortly after taking the Bears job.

“I think he’s a longer, bigger guy at the corner position,” the coach said Wednesday after mandatory minicamp practice at Halas Hall. “I think we’ve got some pretty tough matchups here. Offensively we’ve got some pretty good skill guys. So, again, it’s a process.

“I’ve seen growth, and he’s learning our system, it’s a new language, new terminology. I just see him getting better everyday.”

And learning a new role, too. Fuller has been one of the players returning punts in practice, though Fox said it was “kind of a little bit too early to see what’s going on in the return game.”

“You know, it’s like all the jobs — they’re kind of up in the air,” Fox said. “We got different guys back there doing it.”

Fuller could be an intriguing option. Though he wasn’t a regular punt returner in college, coaches have praised his athleticism.
